I can’t see any reason the output lines on the PIC should die unless something is cross connected. As well it killed 2 outputs lines on the PIC. If the current is somehow flowing back into the PIC that way, that should block it. Thanks again for your help. OK, to take a step back and answer the questions from earlier I’m thinking about adding in some diodes in between the PIC outputs and the IRs to block any reverse current.

They are on my board, I just left them off the schematic for now, it’s a work in progress
