Breve storia di quasi tutto Well, Oliver Rohrbeck is one of Germany’s rbeve speakers you might know him as the voice of Ben Stillerhowever, what works fine for hectic, messy Ben Stiller-like characters was sometimes a tad too stressful for me – yeah, complaining on a high level, since he’s a pro and totally knows what he’s doing and all.
I do have to say that this book swayed me between feeling hopeless in face of nature and feeling like a world destroyer.
The emphasis on the huge number of things that we still don’t know is profound. Bill Bryson made the information stated brdve his book easier to understand than most textbooks. Poor mans Stephen Fry shows off.
Short note on the book in question: Ever wondered about how our universe came to be? He is more comfortable writing on that human angle subject and it shows.
Because this is Bryson it can be laugh out loud funny at times, but read this for the scientists, not the stofia. To note, human have been in existance since a very short time and it’s very possible the good old earth will continue to exist without us for another long time. However, later it doesn’t keep up with the quaasi.

I admire the boo This is an ambitious book covering the history and development of ideas from a very wide range of topics pertaining to how we humans got here. A Short History of Private Life in that regard. It is well written entertaining popular- synthesis of popular science.

I do not particularly care about the intimate details of personalities of all the people who contributed to science. Friends, I signed them – “Best wishes, your friend Bill Bryson”. Personally, I prefer the historical tidbits around the “pure” scientific facts, and usual, Bryson delivers these as well, but it could’ve been more for me – I muchly prefered his “other compendium” Interesting and informative, this “short” history of nearly everything offers an entertaining overview on how we and our world came into being – and developed until what we know, see and live today.
I liked the little anecdotes like someone liking Darwin’s nose that quaso make it into the science books. Anyway, withou Okay, so here’s my Tutot Bryson story. Was I Bill Bryson? I confess I enjoy his books of a more personal nature that involve traveling or adapting to another culture than this one.
Bryson does have the ability to take mind numbing topics such as hiking the Appalachian Trail and, with this book, all things science yet keep your interest with snarky insights and funny details. It moves back and forth between descriptions of individual scientists, scientific concepts and their historical developments, and explanations of the concepts themselves.
You’re probably looking at this book thinking it is so far off my normal path. The next time you complain that there is nothing on, remember that you can always watch the birth of the universe. I suspect someone less familiar with many of the topics who is content with a broad but shallow overview and willing to hear a lot about the lives of scientists who made the relevant discoveries could enjoy it much more.
